Given the uncertainty of the Internet connection at the Cavendish Community Center, we recommend you attend in person if possible. A copy of our presentation will be issued to all members in advance. If you have any specific agenda items or questions which you would like us to cover, please let us know by Friday, July 12th so that we have an opportunity to include in our presentation. We would like to share a few updates with you:
Don Bartley – Road Superintendent Effective immediately, we wish to inform you that Don Bartley has left the MCLCR Board after serving 5 years as Road Superintendent. We would like to take this opportunity to thank Don for his outstanding contribution to our Board and especially to our Road. Don’s experience and pragmatic approach were incredibly valuable to our Board and he played a significant role in helping us navigate many challenges over the years. MCGCR Board Recruitment As a result of Don’s departure and several other vacancies, we are looking for 3 additional Board members. One of these Board positions is effective immediately and will have an 18-month term. The other 2 positions will start after the August AGM and will have a full 3-year term. We would like to be clear that it is our desire to have a geographic representation on our Board – this means members who are from as many different Spurs as possible. One of the challenges with achieving this goal is recruitment – it is often difficult to find willing candidates from some of the Spurs without representation. So, if you are on any of the following Spurs and haven’t previously been on the Board, please consider volunteering. Specific call out to the following Spurs who are currently not represented:
If you are interested in joining our Board, please reach out to [email protected] to obtain more information. It is a great way to meet individuals from a different part of the lake and contribute to making access to our lake network as safe as possible. Spring Maintenance Program As mentioned in previous emails, this past winter with the Thaw Freeze Thaw cycle was quite difficult for our Road. Special thanks to Wes Lake and Al Mansel for their speedy response to helping us remediate the damaged spots on our road. Over the next number of weeks, you may continue to see many potholes. We will be grading on a regular basis to minimize the impact. We’d also like to once again remind you to watch your speed and drive slowly down our road. Spur Garbage Clean-Up A special thank you to Derek and Kelly Woodward who have picked up garbage along the main road. If your cottage or place of residence is on one of the Spurs, please consider organizing a garbage pick up day for your respective Spur. 2024 AGM We know some of you are interested in knowing when the next AGM will be held. We are planning to share further details in the next month as we work through some logistic issues. Stay tuned! That’s it for now. Kind Regards, MGLCR Board Please be advised that there is an extremely soft spot-on Spur 1A. This morning, a car got stuck there. We have arranged for our contractor to add more gravel and remediate on a more permanent basis tomorrow morning. If possible, we recommend you avoid the Spur until after Al has fixed it.
We apologize for any inconvenience this has caused. The heavy rain over the last few days has exacerbated an already tenuous situation. Kind Regards MGLCR Board Recently we have experienced technical difficulties with our email provider. As a result we have not received any emails or inquiries between October 24 and today. If you sent any emails to [email protected] or via the Contact Us form on our website, please resend.
We apologize for any inconvenience caused. Thanks MGLCRG Board of Directors Voting results from the 2023 Annual General Meeting are as follows...
